Working on behalf of international property developers, Vastint Hospitality, HOW Planning has secured full planning approval for a 224 bed Hotel at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Solihull. The application was submitted by HOW Planning on 3rd November 2017 and was approved only 8 weeks later by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s Planning Committee on 3rd January 2018.
The hotel will be operated by Belvar as a Moxy, the new lifestyle brand of Marriott which caters to younger travellers who are seeking a more modern and technologically “cutting edge” service set within a relaxed and sociable environment.
This is the third Moxy Hotel scheme HOW has worked on for their client Vastint Hospitality, with similar applications being considered for schemes in Chester and a third being worked on in Milton Keynes.
The scheme will provide a complementary facility that supports and diversifies the visitor offer at the NEC which will in turn enhance its international competitiveness. It will also bring significant economic benefits in terms of employment and new investment into the area.
The Moxy brand has an established presence and reputation on continental Europe and are expanding their portfolio in the United Kingdom.
