We have advised easyHotel on securing planning permission for an £8 million, 97-bedroom hotel on Blackpool Promenade.
easyHotel now has a 999-year lease on what is a former holiday accommodation site, with proposals approved for a mixed four and five-storey building with a 3,000 sq ft café on the ground, along with 97 bedrooms on the upper floors.
Associate in our Manchester office, Philip Grant, said; “This is the sixth planning permission we have now secured for easyHotel, having previously obtained approval for new hotels in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Cardiff and Ipswich. This proposal will result in the redevelopment of a vacant, underutilised site in a prominent location on Blackpool’s Promenade”.
Local Planning Officers said; “The benefit to the regeneration of the resort as a tourist destination that would arise from the redevelopment of this prominent site to provide modern visitor accommodation, is considered to be significant and sufficient to outweigh the identified impacts on residential amenity”.
Following planning consent, the hotel is expected to open during easyHotel’s 2020/21 financial year.
