HOW Planning have submitted a full planning application for a 172 bed AC by Marriott hotel on Mason Street in Manchester’s New Cross area on behalf of Axcel Hospitality Ltd.
The application site is located within the New Cross area which has been identified by Manchester City Council for major regeneration and the proposals have been designed by Simpson Haugh & Partners.
The scheme is located on a brownfield site at Cable Street in Ancoats, close to the Northern Quarter and nearby Co-operative Group’s headquarter buildings. Proposals also include a café bar, fitness centre, meeting rooms and associated servicing areas.
Comments Conor Vallelly, Associate at HOW Planning: “Our client’s proposals will assist in bringing forward the regeneration of the area which has been identified as a priority by Manchester City Council. A quality brand hotel and high standard of design should act as a catalyst for further investment in the emerging New Cross neighbourhood.”
The site is currently used for surface car parking. Proposals for the hotel outline a maximum height of 9 storeys covering an area of 7,785 sq m.
