Plans Take Shape in Longridge
Having secured outline planning approval for a new, predominantly residential scheme in Longridge, Preston, HOW Planning has secured a number of further planning permissions to bring the mixed-use development closer to fruition.
HOW originally secured outline permission for up to 220 dwellings, a number of residential apartments with care access and an area of commercial office floorspace, at the site on Whittingham Road, Longridge.
The Manchester based consultancy has now been successful in securing detailed planning approval, on behalf of Prospect GB, for the first phase of residential development comprising 113 new homes and has also secured planning permission for a 1,739sqm Aldi foodstore. The new store will replace the permitted commercial element of the original, wider outline scheme.
The new Aldi scheme represents a multi-million pound investment that will create up to 50 new jobs.
Alexandra Eatough, Senior Planner at HOW Planning says: “Securing planning approval is a fantastic result, paving the way for a partially brownfield site to be redeveloped into a high quality retail scheme. The significant investment by Aldi will not only enhance the visual appearance of the area and support the new residential development, but it will also create local jobs and further enhance consumer choice within Longridge”.
The application proposes the erection of a high-quality and modern discount foodstore with associated vehicular access, car parking, servicing area, and hard and soft landscaping. Architects on the scheme are The Harris Partnership.
