Planning Consent Granted for Phase 1 of £70M Altair Scheme

Working on behalf of Nikal, HOW Planning has secured detailed planning permission for Phase One of Altair, Altrincham’s dynamic new £70 million residential and leisure quarter in the town centre.

The decision means that construction on the 4.5 acre mixed-use scheme will start this Summer, with completion of the first phase anticipated in December 2017.

Main contractor, Eric Wright Construction, will commence site clearance works to make way for the construction of an iconic contemporary style building that will house 59 high quality apartments plus ground floor retail leisure units.

The apartments will be delivered by Hillcrest Homes, Nikal’s award winning luxury homebuilding company, and will comprise 36 one bedroom and 23 two bedroom apartments designed by acclaimed Manchester architects, Stephenson Studio.

Each of the apartments will offer statement interiors and an exemplary standard of specification with German designer kitchens, integrated ‘A’ grade appliances and bathrooms and ensuites by Villeroy & Boch. Residents can enjoy private balconies as well as access to a stylish communal roof terrace with far reaching views.

Nikal’s Phase One plans for Altair also include a grand new entrance for Altrincham Ice Rink and a new landscaped pedestrianised area with space for outside seating and pavement cafés.

Later this year, Nikal will submit plans for further phases of construction providing more high quality homes alongside contemporary retail spaces suitable for new restaurants, cafés, bars, shops and Grade A office accommodation, creating a vibrant new destination for living, leisure, pleasure and business in the heart of Altrincham town centre.

Altair will be linked directly to the tram, train and bus Transport Interchange via a new public bridge, making it easily accessible to those travelling to or from the Greater Manchester and Trafford areas.
