New Homes Approved for Kingmoor Park Properties
Acting on behalf of Kingmoor Park Properties, HOW Planning has secured outline planning approval for up to 372 dwellings including associated open space and infrastructure at the former Bridgewater Business Park in Leigh, which will transform the site into a high quality residential scheme.
Bridgewater Business Park previously had planning in place for a mixed employment/residential scheme, but attracted very little interest from business operators with potential developers expressing a preference for a solely residential development.
The 10 ha site currently consists of empty and unused/derelict buildings which are no longer suitable for employment use. Planning approval not only helps kick start development at this underused piece of land, but will also benefit the neighbouring primary school, as a parcel of land will be donated to accommodate any future development plans.
Says Richard Barton, Partner at HOW Planning: “Bridgewater Business Park has attracted quite a lot of interest over the past few years but house builders have been reluctant to get involved whilst it was classed as a mixed use and employment site. This planning approval for an entirely residential scheme will unlock and release its full potential.”
Bridgewater Business Park, which is located immediately adjacent to Leigh town centre, can now be marketed as full residential opportunity. On completion the scheme will provide much needed new housing and improve the character and appearance of both the immediate and surrounding area.
