Kendal Homes Given Go-ahead
Acting on behalf of Story Homes, HOW Planning has successfully secured planning permission on appeal for 34 new homes in Kendal.
South Lakeland District Council had initially refused permission for the development, which is located on a greenfield site at Brigsteer Road, over concerns relating to its effect on the character of the area, but the Inspector’s Report acknowledged that the scheme would be a ‘very high quality development that will form a new entrance to the built up area of Kendal’ giving the go-ahead for the additional housing.
The Brigsteer Road site had been allocated for residential development in the Local Plan Land Allocations DPD and the approved scheme will provide 34 new family homes with all associated access, car parking and surrounding sensitive landscaping. The development will better utilise the land’s potential, ensuring it has a more effective contribution to the needs of Kendal and provide much needed new homes for the town. Additionally, approval of the development unlocks the wider Stainbank Green site allocation.

Story Homes can now progress with its latest development and bring more homes to the town, helping to support local businesses and services.”
The Brigsteer Road site is located to the North of the Kendal Housing site allocation known as Stainbank Green and is in a highly sustainable location, close to a number of bus routes as well as several local facilities which would be supported by the new homes.
