Application Submitted for New Homes in Ulverston
Acting on behalf of Story Homes, HOW Planning has submitted a detailed planning application for 90 new homes on land at West End Nurseries in Ulverston; an area already allocated for housing by South Lakeland District Council.
The proposal includes a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom mews, semi-detached and detached homes. The type and mix of properties have been put together to reflect the local vernacular and housing need.
The development proposals will help the local authority to meet their housing target, with a predicted 8,800 new homes required by 2025, and will also provide 31 affordable homes available for local people based on their eligibility, providing a much needed boost to the affordable market in Ulverston.
Our proposals will create a sustainable and integrated development that would make an important contribution to the district’s housing supply.
The scheme will have benefits for the local economy during the construction phase as a result of direct and indirect employment opportunities through the sub-contractor and supply chains, as well as an increased demand for local services when the new houses are occupied.
Story Homes development planner David Hayward said: “We are seeking detailed planning consent for a new development of 90 homes on land at West End Nurseries in Ulverston. This follows a public consultation in December 2016 with the local community.
“We are renowned for designing high quality homes throughout Cumbria and for our striking street scenes on our developments. In the design of our proposal we have paid careful attention to the local area’s different forms of development, architecture, appearance and material and these aspects will be visible when travelling around the development creating a unique sense of space.”
“The land at West End Nurseries has already been allocated for residential development by South Lakeland District Council and we hope to deliver the best possible housing solution here.
“We believe that the Story Homes product is appropriate for this site due to the high quality of our houses and also our dedication to building developments which complement the local area, through thoughtful planning and design.”
Says Victoria Hunter, Senior Planner at HOW Planning: “We have been working closely with Story Homes for a long time to ensure this development meets all expectations and ambitions for the local area. It will create many new homes which will not only help boost the local community but also compliment the rural surroundings. We look forward to the decision which is expected later this Summer.”
A decision on the detailed planning application is expected in Summer 2017.
