Aldi Secures Permission at Logistics North

Bolton Council has resolved to grant planning permission for a new Aldi Store located on the Logistics North warehousing and distribution site. The application was submitted by Aldi Stores Limited and Harworth Estates, developers of the Logistics North site, whilst HOW Planning acted as planning consultants for the retailer and The Harris Partnership as architect.

The new store will also be the retailer’s national training store, linked to the national training centre at the nearby Bolton Regional Distribution Centre also located on the Logistics North site. Aldi will develop the site, building a modern, high quality store which will create in the region of 40 new jobs and will be the focus of the retailer’s national training program.

Says Keith Jones, Associate at HOW Planning: “This is another important site for Aldi which along with the nearby Regional Distribution Centre represents a significant investment by Aldi in Bolton and both will play a significant role in the company’s national expansion program”.

On completion, the scheme will include a 1,740 sq m Aldi foodstore, as well as customer car parking (108 spaces), dedicated servicing and customer vehicular accesses, and new areas of hard and soft landscaping.
