Shot Tower

Acting on behalf of Altrincham based developer Whitecroft Group, HOW Planning has submitted a full planning and listed building consent application for the 18th century Shot Tower and former lead works in Chester.

The applications follow consent for a previous scheme which was secured by the site’s previous owners, before being acquired by Whitecroft 2016. Revisions were made to ensure the scheme better aligns with its surroundings and incorporates alterations to existing buildings and the construction of 69 residential apartments and 3 town houses. Plans also include a heritage interpretation centre within the Grade II listed Shot Tower together with associated car parking and public art. The new buildings will complement the historic tower, using elements to reflect the site’s heritage, creating a scheme which is more sympathetic and in keeping with Chester’s landscape.

The proposed scheme sits within the Broughton Canalside Conservation Area; an area with which HOW has previous experience, having secured planning approval for the Waitrose store located across the connecting bridge close to this landmark site.
