Permission for Two Aldi Stores

HOW Planning has secured planning permission for two new Aldi foodstores on Todmorden Road, Burnley and in Breightmet, Bolton. The permissions represent a milestone for HOW, with the Burnley approval representing the firm’s 25th new foodstore for Aldi in just under three years acting for the retailer.

On completion the Bolton scheme will include a 19,130sqft Aldi foodstore and five flexible-use retail units totalling 25,910sqft, as well as car parking (213 spaces), dedicated servicing and customer vehicular accesses, and new areas of hard and soft landscaping. The scheme will create in the order of 100 new jobs and was approved unanimously by Bolton’s planning committee.

The Burnley scheme involves provision of a 19,100sqft discount foodstore on an underutilised site to the south-east of the town centre. It will be served by 90 car parking spaces and will provide soft and hard landscaping as well as local public realm improvements. The scheme will create some 40 local employment opportunities.
