Acting on behalf of AM Ventures 1, Manchester based HOW Planning secured outline planning approval for a scheme which will transform a 5 hectare brownfield site in Prestwich into a new mixed-use development, comprising residential development and modern employment space.

The redevelopment of the Mountheath site, which at present is partly occupied by an Industrial Estate, will secure its regeneration, providing high quality employment land to meet modern occupier requirements and new family homes to meet the short term housing needs of the local area.

The approval establishes the principle of a mixed-use development at the site comprising up to 160 dwellings and approximately 32,000 sq ft of employment development. In addition, the scheme will facilitate off-site highways upgrades to improve the junction of Bury New Road and George Street. A layout for a traffic signal controlled junction has been developed in conjunction with Bury Council and TfGM to improve this junction.

The scheme will transform what is currently an unsuitable and unusable site into an attractive new development, which will also deliver a series of long term social, economic and environmental benefits for the local area.

The site is well served by public transport and is close to Prestwich Town Centre which provides a range of shops, services and amenities to serve both the new housing and potential new businesses.
