Double Tree by Hilton, Chester

HOW Planning successfully secured full planning permission and listed building consent for a major expansion of The Double Tree by Hilton hotel, a scheme located within Chester’s Green Belt.

Formerly known as Hoole Hall, the 4 star hotel complex is located close to the city centre but due to its Green Belt location the application was referred to the National Planning Casework Unit and following a positive response, Cheshire West and Chester Council granted planning permission.

Work will be carried out on a series of extensions to increase accommodation capacity by 85 bedrooms, enhance the capacity of the hotel’s Brasserie Restaurant and business user facilities, new car parking and an extension to the existing reception area. The works will be accompanied by a comprehensive package of public realm and major landscape enhancements.

HOW Planning were able to demonstrate compliance with the strict terms of Green Belt policy, which was fundamental in achieving the planning approval. The scheme is a sustainable one and will lead to the creation of an additional 50 full time jobs and apprenticeships as well as delivering major landscape improvements.
