Hilton Hotel, Leeds
Having already secured planning permission for a 244 bed upscale hotel development in Leeds, HOW Planning also helped secure planning approval to vary the approved design. Leeds City Council granted planning permission for a new striking design element as required by Hilton, the luxury hotel chain who were appointed as operators of the scheme.
Working on behalf of Portland Crescent Leeds Ltd, HOW submitted a Section 73 planning application, seeking to vary the existing planning consent to include a striking rooftop skybar on the 13th floor with a feature glass lift fronting Portland Crescent. The lift and skybar will provide stunning panoramic views over the city centre.
The Hilton Hotel site lies between Leeds Metropolitan University, Millennium Square and the £80m Concert Arena opened late 2013 and has been designed on a split level; part 14 storey, part 6 storey. The amended design remains sympathetic to the existing surroundings with careful consideration given to the impact on the nearby city centre and Queen Square conservation areas.
