Gorsey Bank

Working on behalf of Stockport Property Alliance, Manchester based HOW Planning secured outline planning approval for a new employment scheme in Stockport. A development of up to 145,000 sq ft of employment space is planned for the former Gorsey Bank housing estate site which has been identified for regeneration.

The Gorsey Bank housing estate was cleared in the early 1990s and Stockport Council, who own the site, have been keen to secure an alternative use since its demolition. HOW Planning worked with the Stockport Property Alliance to develop a strategy for an employment led regeneration scheme which will provide new investment for the area.

Approval of the plans for Gorsey Bank will completely transform what is a redundant site and it is hoped that its redevelopment for employment use will kick start further new development as part of the on-going regeneration of this area of Stockport.

An extensive public consultation exercise indicated strong support for the scheme from both local councillors and residents who agreed that planning approval will provide a much needed economic boost to the area.

This permission will allow Stockport Council to apply for Town Centre Access Package funding, which will help finance the construction of the access road and surrounding infrastructure. Further Reserved matters application are to be submitted in due course
