Former Territorial Army Centre

Acting on behalf of The House Maker Ltd, HOW Planning secured full planning approval for a 3.52 ha (8.69 acres) housing development at the former Territorial Army Centre site in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

The planning application proposes 75 new homes including a combination of traditional family homes, apartments and an element of affordable housing. Extensive landscaping is an integral part of the scheme including a landscape buffer along the stream corridor which bisects the site and significant landscaping and ecological enhancements to the publicly accessible open space. A new roundabout and Toucan crossing is also proposed on Chester Road which will provide access to the site and highways and air quality benefits for the wider area.

The former TA centre was empty for a long period of time and has since been demolished and the site cleared to make way for its redevelopment. The new, high quality housing development aims to attract new residents to the area and regenerate a vacant parcel of land into an attractive and sensitively landscaped new community.

HOW and it’s client, The House Maker Ltd, worked closely with officers across Cheshire East Council to incorporate their requirements which included the roundabout, widening the stream corridor running through the site and enhancing the public open space.
