Fewcott Wind Farm

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team HOW Planning has been successful in securing planning permission on appeal for the Fewcott Wind Farm near Bicester, Oxfordshire.

The scheme will make an important contribution to achieving renewable energy targets for the South East.

Initial proposals were put forward for 4 wind turbines each capable of generating between 2 and 2.5 megawatts of electricity on land adjacent to the M40 in Oxfordshire in December 2008 and following the refusal of the application, HOW were brought in to provide expertise for the appeal.

Working with other specialists, HOW put forward evidence addressing a wide range of issues including aviation safety, heritage assets, landscape and visual impactsand the impact on the living conditions of residents. The Planning Inspector considering the appeal agreed that the balance of benefits and the need to increase the UK’s renewable energy capacity outweighed any harm caused by the turbines.
