easyHotel

HOW Planning has secured detailed planning permission for a 94 bed easyHotel on Lands Lane in Leeds City centre; the fourth project for the budget hotel chain.

Plans for the four-storey building, which lies adjacent to Angel Inn Yard will transform the retail unit into a ‘super budget’ hotel, further enhancing easyHotel’s portfolio of low cost, good quality hotels in city centre locations around the world.

The building sits within the Leeds City Centre Conservation Area and, whilst it is not listed, it is considered to have architectural and historical interest relating to its original use as the Scala Cinema. As such, it is has been identified by Leeds City Council as a ‘non-designated heritage asset’ and the design for the new hotel aims to retain the historic character of the building whilst providing everything required for its new use.

Plans include the full change of use of use for 14-22 Lands Lane to create a new hotel including 94 ensuite bedrooms, staff facilities, ground floor entrance lobby and reception, together with associated external works.
