Duke Street Bowling Alley

Acting on behalf of D2 Investments Ltd, HOW Planning secured planning approval for the redevelopment of a former warehouse on Duke Street in Liverpool; a decision which will see the creation of the city centre’s first bowling alley.

The extensive refurbishment project includes plans to create a boutique bowling alley alongside restaurants and bars in the 0.13ha building, which previously housed an indoor car park. The project has the potential to create job opportunities for approximately 45 people.

Located in Liverpool’s World Heritage Site and the Duke Street conservation area the site is designated as a ‘mixed use’ area for creative and cultural uses including residential, employment, community, leisure and retail. The surrounding area is characterised by a range of different uses including bars and clubs, restaurants, and the new bowling alley will complement, and be in keeping with, the other existing units in the area.

Not only does the decision pave the way for Liverpool’s first city centre bowling alley, but it has also been specifically designed to ensure connectivity with future development. The area has already been identified as a creative hub, which will include new leisure, commercial and retail uses and the planning decision demonstrates the Council’s commitment to encouraging investment in the area.
