Altair Phase 2

Working on behalf of Nikal, and following the successful approval of phase one, HOW Planning has secured detailed planning permission for the second phase of Altair, Altrincham’s new £70 million residential and leisure quarter in the town centre.

Plans include a total of 85 one, two and three bed apartments, Grade A office accommodation and contemporary retail spaces suitable for new restaurants, cafés, bars, shops, built within four separate buildings centred around a new public square.

Work on the first phase started in January 2017 with site clearance works making way for the construction of an iconic contemporary style building that will house 59 high quality apartments plus ground floor retail leisure units.

Nikal’s Phase One plans for Altair also include a grand new entrance for Altrincham Ice Rink and a new landscaped, pedestrianised area with space for outside seating and pavement cafés.

Altair will be linked directly to the tram, train and bus Transport Interchange via a new public bridge, making it easily accessible to those travelling to or from the Greater Manchester and Trafford areas.

HOW has worked closely with Nikal throughout both phases to ensure Altair delivers iconic high quality buildings that reflects its position at a key gateway into both Altrincham and the wider Altair development. The scheme will act as a catalyst to kick-start the regeneration and deliver significant social and economic benefits at the heart of the town.
